@betterwithb: If you don’t have emotional intelligence and emotional regulation, learn it because generations of children who have will become adults, will not #formerteacher #teachersoftiktok #education #thesystemisbroken #emotionalintelligence
As a person that was a child in the 70s, and in HS in the 80s, I can say definitively say that NONE of what is going on and tolerated in schools these days would have been acceptable when I was in school. For teachers these days this is an impossible situation. Recognizing a no win situation and walking away to save yourself is not failure.

I do think we were very unprepared for tech being in their lives. and I think gen x was less emotional, so hopefully the next parent generation can learn!

I get that a lot of children don’t have support at home, but what about the lack of support from administration? Everyone is so worried about being sued that they forget they are supposed to be doing what is in the best interest of the child. They act like they want an involved parent until a parent gets involved and then all of a sudden none of the administration nor the teachers wanna communicate

So true I see it daily at the high school level as their school nurse..poor kids.As a parent I am ashamed that I didn’t realize this before my own graduated, how much it impacted the lack of involvement or awareness.

Schools have shifted from being an educational institution where you go to learn to a social center where everything but learning is happening

The children who choose to be teachers from that generation. will be tasked with bringing about that change … I have faith that that will succeed having lived through that reality . I truly believe they will learn from this and uplift instead of having it remained the status quo
