It’s interesting how men like to use the fear of the financial impact of divorce as the reason they don’t want to get married but majority of these states make it so hard for the woman to get any upside if she leaves. Men are literally the ball and chain that they joke about women being.

When my husband I was separated from showed up at my house, jumped in my bed and hit me in the face. I ran out and called the police. He had woken up my babies, put them in bed with him and acted like he was sleeping and had no idea what I was talking about. The female police officer angrily told me to pack up my things and leave. It was my house, his name was no where on the lease. They dropped me off at a battered womans shelter. The next day the woman’s advocate there told me I had to go back immediately before I’m charged with abandonment. I’m lucky to be alive. Anyone criticizing her for being at her house has no idea what she could be going through.
