@elly.psychologist: Emotional abuse from a family member can feel impossible to navigate. You might feel torn between love and the pain they cause. The truth is, you can’t force someone to change. Instead, focus on how emotional abuse affects you and what you need to feel safer. Rebuilding self-trust and setting boundaries is key. In this video, I share what you can do if you’re facing emotional abuse in your family #abusiverelationship #relationshipabuse #emotionalabuserecovery #emotionallyabusiverelationship #emotionalabuse
I tried boundaries so many times - until I found the “block” button and I was never happier ✨ I wish I’d done it earlier

Ten years ago I left my whole family. It’s the best decision I’ve ever taken.

Why would you go there again and again ??? You being hurt repeatedly…. Walk away for good and focus on yourself!!!! Doesn’t matter who you walking away from , choose your peace!!!! Very painful, difficult, horrible experience I know myself, but always always focus on yourself otherwise you will end up seeing therapist rest of your life and in same time you will damage yourself by giving access to your wellbeing!! ❤️

I am 66 & I have an older brother & an older sister but they don’t call me or ask about my well being as I have always phoned & knocked on their door for many years but now enough is enough so I have given up, I feel great 🤔

it IS as simple. "They're your family" = not a good enough excuse for emotional abuse.

I genuinely don't know how this is possible whilst still allowing that relationship. Its easier to do when you walk away & don't allow that person anywhere near you.

But what happens when you put a boundary up but then it either gets dismissed or used against you by a parent?

The best tips is viewing them as regular people, looking at pros vs cons and how compatible you are. You can ask yourself "are we similar enough it can work out or are we too different?" If you would think a friend, a partner or anyone else with certain traits is too incompatible with you or a deal breaker, then you can think about it for your family too. Think of them as humans, not titles.

Anyone who deliberately wants to hurt you and they are fully grown adults, family or not, cut them off.

I'm sorry but love doesnt involve abuse. If its toxic or abusive it isn't love. Love used to manipulate isn't love. You cant tell people....oh they do love you. They absolutely do not.
