6 episodes, i remember the time we got like 21 episodes with more special effects each year like clockwork. Stargate, star trek, Babylon 5 each weekend new episode for half a year and that for years

Adaptations always give me trust issues, but it goes back farther than that for me. Science fiction and fantasy always get the short straw when it comes to reaching actual conclusions. They're either cancelled early or they jump the shark. There's too many to name.

they made season 1 a mystery/thriller with a lot of focus on the characters; the next two books in the series are all high-concept sci-fi in space, which will be a total genre break and I don't think will have the mass appeal that S1 had. I think they're cutting their losses

I was already a bit disappointed with the first season. There was a deep, meditative appreciation for the imperfections of humanity in the books that got thrown out of the window for spectacle in season 1. We didn’t need families and children on the ship. And with book 2 and 3 being wildly less relatable than book 1 by necessity… it doesn’t bode too well.
