ok I had the same frustration till a random guy in a shop in Florence told me to try 501s for men not women, the fit is perfect, relaxed vibe, comfy not too tight, maybe give it a go

sizing up 501s DOESNT WORK for all body types!! it's one of the biggest myths in the world of denim/Levi's. in my experience, working with fitting vintage Levi's for about 4 years and having a degree in fashion design AND someone with thick thighs and wide hips and a narrow waist, the issue is in the thigh area and the rise. technically you could size up to accommodate your hips, but it's really the room in the thighs that is required to fit this particular style. And the more you size up to accommodate room for the thigh area, the larger the waist and the hips get. it's really frustrating when people with a straighter figure try to sell different body types on the 501 with the simple trick of sizing up. And that's the beauty of different styles! personally, the 560 and 555 fit me the best. And sometimes the silver tab! and these three styles have different leg shapes and different rises so I have access to variety!
