@blindonthemove: Using a white cane doesn’t mean someone has no vision. Rather it’s a tool for independence. Many people who use canes have some usable vision, and assumptions can lead to misunderstandings. #blindness #cane #awareness #tool

I’m considering getting a cane. I’m legally blind. I still have some vision, but the amount of times I have tripped over uneven ground is ridiculous.

I was born with cataracts and black coma. And I got my very first cane two weeks ago, and I was scared to use it, because I was scared. People was gonna say I was faking it, so I appreciate this video.

i am a cane user, i have achromatopsia which is complete color blindness along with reduced vision and little to no depth perception, people always assumed that i was completely blind as i have a o&m instructor that helps me learn how to use a cane, it is not an uncommon occurrence that i get stopped and questioned when i am by myself about my vision. I have been called a “fake blind person” multiple times even though i am legally blind. I use a cane for my safety and even for the others around me

is it possible for a kind of cataract that is only longer range but when something is super close you can see it clearly?

My optic nerve was deformed in utero, I don't have downward peripheral vision and very little peripheral vision to the side or up. I recently bought myself a cane and it has helped a lot. I used to have to choose if I wanted to see what was ahead of me or what I was stepping on, now I don't have that problem ^^

ohhh I understand now. I was confused by how people can use canes and walk around even tho they are blind which I thought means they couldn't see at all, but it's really just blurry or something on their eyes. thank you!

I’m assuming the second one with the black dots it’s not actually black but your eyes just mesh it together so it skips over that area

People with albinism are also considered blind. I don’t know all the details since I myself am not albino, but there’s some people on this app who are and can share information on it

i’m legally blind because i cannot hardly anything out of my right eye. i own a cane but im always too nervous to use it in public bc i dont “look blind.” but without it ive ran into so many things, including people, in public. people assume that if you don’t look a certain way then youre not blind..

Question: Is it actually an obstruction or is it blurriness so intense that it’s not worth putting it on the lens? (I’m talking about the examples where there are black blotches)
