@recoveringcatholick: yeaaaaa back with another video asking the baddies for help what’s new??? Can someone please tell me if they share this opinion? I am quite worried it is just me. I need affordable and progressive alt baddie clothes. (minus the thrift store because you already know i frequent the thrift :D) Minga London, disturbia and Foxblood are dope! need more (and more affordable) options. also if you haven’t tried mixed metals, this is your sign. #altfashion #alttiktok #altbaddie #altgirl #fashiontiktok
Chainmail i’d say is good inspo, you can probably find mixed metal chainmaille too 😋

so I think your missing the point that a lot of "alt" shopping looks outdated because the base of "alt" is second hand or used or just simple basics put together to make an outfit. Alt fashion at its core is sustainability.

"alt" is literally all about self expression. wear what makes you feel good, what makes you stand out, and express yourself. its not about what the internet has made it about and no one wants to hear that nowadays.

I shop anywhere and sort by black. don't sleep on the gap, old navy, marchella NYC, uniqlo, nike, adidas, and for some unique one off or discounted pieces shop on depop. it also helps if you understand your silhouette to take from some of the online inspo & make it work for your body. you don't have to look at just alt photos eithrr, look at reg outfits, understand what you like about them and recreate them in black. vintage Alexander Wang & Alexander McQueen is great too. look at Japanese brands as well, they do a lot of structured, well made pieces and some are free sizes which can help fit a good majority of bodies.

I’ll probably stitch your video if you don’t mind :) but I like to not limit myself and find influence from everyday people’s outfits and other fashion trends that are happening (mainly designer) I take all of that and turn it to black, find it in textures I like or that work for me. Understand the basic structure/silhouette of an outfit the specific style of clothes and fits and make it black or whatever other colors you like.

I think if you think a fit is 🔥, there shouldn't be a "but" after. if you like it, it doesn't matter what era it's giving, you can still wear it. I think we all need to stop looking for things to be on trend and start wearing things that we genuinely just like

I have a very similar view. I LOVE Sammitery that you pictured but I could not pull off 90% of the things she wears. I’ve tried and I ended up feeling like a caricature. Brands like Disturbia have cute things in theory but only in theory. Brands such as David’s Road on the other hand are legit alt but tasteful and unique🤌🏽

That’s because we’re thrifting old things because sustainability IS the point. ✨✌✨

I 1000% agree with you… and, if I may add, you can dress or style around the alt aesthetic WITH color as well (I know you mentioned black clothes) but it feels like alt is categorized as goth 99% of the time which is adjacent but not the same 🤷♀️

I thrift everything! Any article of clothing can be “alt” if you style it as such <3

I feel like I’ve been leaning back into traditional alt methods of thrifting and then altering it at home, it’s time consuming but you can make your clothes custom to you and uniquely you!

You’re looking at mainstream alt brands. I just buy black clothes I like or dye colorful clothes I like black.

As a girly who agrees and love black clothing, I gotta be honest, don't sleep on Target. I work there and if I didn't I wouldn't have known about all the cute black clothes they carry for an affordable price! 🖤

I dont buy from alt brands really. I thrift a lot of clothing with ruffles, trims, lace, pintucks etc and layer them for a more gothic alt look. Im a fan of brands like cdg, ysl, and kei ninomiya even if i cant afford them i can find things inspired by the clothes
