@orangefreddyg: Guys need to need to stop letting other guys obsess over the timing of sexual harassment/assault allegations and focus on the fact that these allegations are rarely false and are tough for the survivor to make. I couldn't imagine having to go through that. Collab with @valmerza this relates to what happened to Eric Swalwell but sadly is too common. #sexualassaultawareness #believewomen #leftist #feminist @Val Merza
I was SAd in my freshman year of hs buy my classmate. didn't tell my mom until the summer before my senior year

A lot of victims are CHILDREN who dont even realize what had happened to them until years later, even then it will be hard to admit it to anybody.

I was a full grown adult. I worked in fire dispatch then police dispatch shortly after. Still didn’t report it. I think about it often and am ashamed for not saying anything, especially because I’m a mandated reporter and would quickly protect anyone else.

i was sa'd by my moms husband starting from age 11 to 16 and they didnt believe me and his mother MY GRANDMOTHER was convinced i lied after holding that in for years. MOST allegations are real and victims do not get treated as if they are real because they are children and "kids lie all the time" or they are adults who "dress a certain way" instead of trying to prove why we shouldnt believe them, believe them until proven otherwise

I was sa’d when I was a child, and I never knew until I was told a year or two ago by my mother and now those memories are there, fuzzy but there. I’m 21, turning 22 next month.

it took me multiple years to even accept that it had actually happened, and even longer to fully admit to myself that the person who did it would actually do something like that to me. it was 5 years later that i first told my closest friend and over the last 3 years i have slowly opened up about it more… people who have never been SA’ed really cannot seem to understand that its almost never as easy as just running to the police station right after

“If anything me too didn’t go far enough” you’re so right. Thank you for talking about this, it’s very important for “guys like you” to talk about it.

my mom didn’t know my stepdad would sa me until after he died. Even then, it was still a few years after his death before I told her. There is no “right time” to tell your story

i really appreciate you talking about it, i dont care if you are a guy with a huge beard you are still speaking up for victims. i was a victim by my own father for over 10 years and only escaped when another kid in my middle school, a boy, wrote a note to my school to report it. i only got out because of a guy who didnt care about gender expectations and just saw a victim and was willing to stand up against the odds.

I still have yet to tell my own parents about mine, mainly because I fear they won't believe me as it was my older sister that trafficked me to her boyfriends, I hope someday I can speak up about it and find peace

Took me ten years to come out about my experience to my mother, and even then it was hard for me to do so, kept crying or choking. Thing is, I still have to see her and talk to her like she didn’t do anything, because she’s my sister. I can’t start to imagine how hard it is for the women who also suffered such an experience to have their perpetrator control the country they live in. It’s disgusting.
