bro I ALWAYS mix up Etymology and entomology and I spend longer than I should have trying to figure out what this video had to do with bugs 🤦

Looney Tunes is also the reason people associate rabbits and carrots. they were making a reference to a person, not the animals. carrots don't actually have a lot of nutritional value to rabbits, but the association stuck

I grew up going to Sunday school and did not learn that Nimrod meant Hunter from the Bible but from the X-Men villain

Did I confuse etymology with the study of bugs and wonder how this was gonna circle to insects? Maybe

The number of people in this comments section confusing entomology and etymology bugs me in a way I can't put into words.

Looney tunes decimated the original meaning of Nimrod. That’s not just cool to think about, it’s fantastic.

X-Men's Nimrod had me look up the meaning of the word Nimrod because I seriously thought it meant idiot/doofus and was puzzled why the top of the line sentinel was called an idiot.

To this day I enjoy that we say “what’s up?” or “sup?” because Bugs Bunny said “what’s up, doc?”

I'm confused, you say daffy called Elmer a nimrod, but you say nimrod loosely translates to hunter. The only wrong thing here is that people were using it the wrong way.

My husband is from a little town in Texas called Nimrod. He would get very defensive about it. 😂😂😂

That makes Nimrod from Marvel make more sense because he is a hunter

Nimrod tried to build the tower of Babble, caused everyone to begin speaking different languages so no one could understand anyone else. Nimrod may have been a "hunter" but his ego led him to do very stupid things. Therefore, to this day, even in loony toons cartoons and beyond, being called a Nimrod is 100% an insult. pls learn to research
