I don’t get what no one understands if your travelling at the speed of light your going so insanely fast the distance shrinks. It becomes “smaller” because you’re travelling SO fast. Therefore why in principle it would take a minute to reach the andromeda galaxy. What he means by when you come back millions of years will have passed is this. If your travelling that fast it shrinks the time and distance your travelling because you go so fast. If you came back everyone on earth would be gone, because they stayed present on earth. The time it would take you to travel to andromeda is shrinks because of light speed from YOUR perspective. Everyone else on earth is gone, because for them that time STILL passed on earth. They didn’t travel at light speed therefore those millions of years shortened from your lightspeed travel still went by on earth. It’s lowkey simple idk how no one gets it

Never get this. What's the link with time? If I'm going 100 miles from A to B at 20mph and somebody else at 80mph, evidently that distance will seem shorter for him but time doesn't change. I'm too dumb to comprehend that, it doesn't make sense.

you need to understand light speed, space, time. space bound by the time. light doesn't bound by the space or gravity. if you got close to the speed of light. you'll be manipulate the law of physics. gravity/space doesn't act accordingly to time for you. you felt like the space shrink and time will be skipped. But the downside is other things don't move close to speed of light. so they aged according to their speed of their gravity but you don't as you move too fast to be affected by space/gravity thus time also work differently for you
