I worked in the corporate analytics department at a health insurance company. All the company works to produce are decisions based on risk tables. Execs should know how to use data for decision making. But if they didn’t like the business data produced by even our best actuaries and statisticians they would dismiss it for someone’s spreadsheet they liked better. Often the data they got for the spreadsheet would come from one of the analysts they had just dismissed.
