just like most of the stories about Vancouver there’s a dark side to it because it’s a dark history. It’s a history of colonialism of racism of imperialism of monarchy and identity. A really sick time so whether it’s gassy jack or Joe fortes or how cherry blossoms were donated to Vancouver from imperial japan to imperial canada

I was working on a development on Heather street, just up from the children's hospital, when they started cutting down all the cherry trees on the Block. didn't match the new developments landscape plan I guess. they were in full bloom and every beautiful blossom-filled branch was cut off and fed through a wood chipper. the remaining 10 ft tall 1.5 foot wide cherry wood logs were thrown into the back of the truck as green waste
