🌧️🚁 President Mahama Undertakes Aerial Inspection of Severe Flooding in Accra President John Dramani Mahama on Monday undertook an aerial inspection of the widespread flooding that has affected Accra and surrounding communities following unusually heavy rainfall. Preliminary assessments indicate that approximately 140 millimetres of rain fell within a single day—significantly higher than last year’s recorded peak of about 56 millimetres. The President was accompanied by the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, and members of the Anti-Flood Task Force to assess the extent of the damage and evaluate both immediate relief measures and long-term solutions. He noted that while extreme rainfall is influenced by changing climatic conditions, human activity also plays a critical role in worsening flood risks. 👉 Unregulated construction in waterways and poor adherence to planning regulations continue to increase vulnerability in urban areas.
