As a pan person myself i didnt even fully understand it cuz the definition when i cane out as pan as a kid was different. U explained this so well thank u. Also i have a question. I am pan bjt ive been calling myself pansexual and demisexual cuz i cant have seggs w out a connection, and when i have it was me self harming in a rlly dark place, i cant fully comfortably have seggs w out a connection, but i DO have sexual attraction to ppl w out a connection, its the act itself i cant do w out a connection. What is that called?? Cuz demisexual means NO sexual ATTRACTION w out connection but idk what else i could use to describe myself

I’m looking to get myself a pan or bi flag but sometimes I don’t know what I am. I always say that I don’t care what’s someone’s gender is or what’s in their pants as long as I like the vibe. but at the same time my attraction towards some women is because they are women? or is it rather that my brain is just acknowledging that they are a woman? like I like women who are shorter than me but on the other hand if a man or nonbinary person was shorter than me I would be attracted to that too… God maybe I am Pansexual

I mean okay by definition I'm probably demi-pan but Bisexual as a label just feels it fits more and encompasses all it needs, got some friends who identify as pan so like no issue with the label but yeah just identified as Bi for a long time and don't see any value in changing that

I thought I was pan until my girlfriend came out as genderfluid. Now I'm struggling with attraction towards her. Does this make me unloyal? She came out to me 8 months into our relationship and I'm trying to figure out if I should break things off because of my attraction towards her has changed and my because of my sexuality. Although, you've helped me understand that I am bi and not pan even though I don't care if somebody is nonbinary, trans, etc. so thank you for that!

I think a good allegory for bi and pan are rectangles and squares. Technically, squares are a type of rectangle, the same way pan is under the bi umbrella. However, not all rectangles are squares, the same way not all bi people meet the definition of pan. One term is just a more specific label under the other, and people can choose to use either depending on what they feel is best for them.
