@allisonbrookeahr: 📍Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, Musanze, Rwanda Leonard is the heart and soul of this village!! He is a character! He has such joy in his heart and you can just feel it when you’re around him. I did a full post about my experience at the village right before this video if you want to see more! This village is right outside Volcanoes National Park. The people of this community were formerly animal poachers. At the time that they were poachers, the costs to the communities around the park were greater than the benefits they received from the park, so local people had no incentive to stop poaching. Enter Edwin Sabuhoro, who worked in the park. He founded this village with the premise to use ecotourism as a potential conservation incentive for local communities. The local communities share their culture with the tourists after their trek through the park. And it is a win win for all. And an end to poaching. I loved it!! I thought it was really joyful!
