This absolutely an important conversation to have. If the general public doesn't actually know the accurate scope and context of the issue at hand, then it functionally changes HOW they engage with these problems - including how they actively petition or advocate for change and action.

I honestly wish the article would have stated “total visits”. As a software engineer, I look at analytics all of the time and they literally all clarify unique versus total, and I feel like that could have bypassed so much of this so we could be focusing on what was important. Accuracy matters, but I see sooooo many comments literally ignoring the plot.

100% agree. it makes me so upset because even as someone who experienced SA, ill admit i felt a bit of relief after fact checking the 62 million. do you understand how fucked up that is??? directly caused by the way people misrepresented and straight up lied beforehand, i felt a tiny bit of relief instead of only being horrified by the article. and i fucking hate that. fuck those people i hope the views were worth it
