My grandpa had a cafe he went to nearly everyday before he passed. My parents and I went to the cafe the day after to eat and tell his favorite waitress who stayed crying in the kitchen. We also had lunch after his funeral there and the owner covered everyone’s meals. This just made me think of him and that little cafe. 🫶

This made me cry. My family is from a small town and my dad passed away in 2018. So it was just my mom. I was nearby but didn’t live with her. The newspaper came from a nearby city and they stopped delivering to rural towns in the area so my mom would go to the local convenience store every morning to buy her newspaper. If she didn’t show up the ladies at the store would text or call and make sure she was OK. She passed January 10th of this year. They still check on me to make sure I’m OK.

I used to go to an Indian restaurant with my dad all the time and we got to know the staff. After he died, I would go in and they would ask about him and I would just tell them that he moved to a different city… I didn’t have the heart to break theirs

When I was younger my mom would always take my brother and me to a Chinese restaurant one town over. When my mom passed my brother and I went there after a bit. The owners asked why they hadn’t seen her in a while. We had to tell them that she passed. They cried. We cried. Then a few years later they asked why my dad stopped coming. Had to tell them again that he passed. They cried. We cried. Restaurant owners notice people.
