KamonKaze :
I get the feeling that Alhaitham let himself be swept along by Kaveh during their student days. At that stage of his life, Alhaitham didn't really care about the company or opinions of others; rather, he was interested in what other people could *do*—someone like Kaveh, for instance, who possesses immense talent and knowledge. This is something Alhaitham greatly admires, yet Kaveh's tendency to constantly help others—or to simply let himself be carried along by events—ends up undermining it significantly. Over time, Alhaitham learned to work as part of a team—for the common good, certainly, but above all for his own comfort. Let's not forget that he got involved in the entire Sumeru affair because he possesses a strong sense of justice. So, I feel that Alhaitham wasn't as affected as many people think when Kaveh argued with him; rather, Alhaitham simply didn't realize—or didn't think—that he was crossing the line. If that were the case, Alhaitham never would have helped him; for him, it was a mere senseless argument—but for Kaveh, it was a blow to his feelings and a desperate urge not to be left alone.
