@verbessert131: Afrika Korps | footage from Tobruk Battle. The German Afrika Korps was a German military force sent to North Africa during World War II to support Italy, which was struggling against British forces. It was formed in early 1941 and led by General Erwin Rommel, who quickly became famous for his bold tactics and earned the nickname “Desert Fox.” The Afrika Korps fought mainly against British and Commonwealth troops across Libya and Egypt, including key battles like Siege of Tobruk and Second Battle of El Alamein. At first, Rommel’s forces had significant success, pushing the Allies back across the desert. However, they faced major problems such as long supply lines, lack of fuel, and increasing Allied strength. After their defeat at El Alamein in 1942 and the Allied landings in North Africa (Operation Torch), the Afrika Korps was gradually pushed back. In May 1943, the remaining Axis forces in North Africa surrendered, marking the end of the Afrika Korps. #ww2 #ww2history #germany #military #HistoryTime
