@juliafaley: Trauma doesn't have to be a debilitating accident. Trauma can be losing a job, divorce, a death of someone you love, estrangement, toxic work space, abuse.... and the list goes on. This is not ruminating. This is processing and carrying the incident out of the amygdala and into the prefrontal cortex where you can make sense of it and move forward. Moving forward in a healthy state is vital for happiness and stability. Keep in mind a healthy mindset attracts healthy things. A healthy brain means a healthy body. Something upsetting you? Put pen to paper for 20 minutes a day for 4 or 5 days. God blesses us with wisdom. Use it.

My mother "took herself away" when she was 43yo. I was 20yo back in 1990. It took me decades to simply write her a letter and let it all out and during my writing I realized very deeply that my mom DID love me after all. Finally, after 36 years of grief, guilt and self sabotage... I'm free. Write...it...down! I'm 56yo now and feel like my life has just begun. You Matter; Keep Going ~~ ✨ Great post ❤️

I had been in therapy for years and made very little actual progress. I finally started just writing everything down, then I'd go over how it all made me feel in therapy, then burn the notebook and move on to the next issue. For some reason, that has greatly decreased the emotional load I carry.

It's what I did. Have a notebook full of all the rage, hate, despair, pain, joy, sadness, etc. Started from the beginning to that point. After felt empty of the weight like I had just freed up more space on the hard drive

comments number was so perfect I didn't want to comment. but I had to say thank you 💕 I've been told so much to journal. But giving me the actual explanation as to how it works has change the 'demand' into a 'I wan to do it' task.

💯💯💯 this has to do with the brain finally writing the unfinished synopsis to complete the circuit. 🥰 Our brains are wired exactly like computers❣️

Nick says be.more.empathetic :
I think this is true, but I would add something. We’re haunted by bad experiences or traumatic events. I think if you TELL the story (on paper or to a strong person), you get it out of your system, but then it comes back. I think the cure is to tell it (or write it) AGAIN and again, but tell it more and more CONCISELY, until you can summarize it in one short sentence. Then you’re cured. Or as cured as you can be. And that’s enough.

JOURNALING HAS HELPED ME UNDERSTAND WHAT I EXPERIENCED IN THE SAME WAY YOU WRITE A LETTER TO THE PERSON WHO HURT YOU. TELL THEM IN DETAIL.

I have wondered my entire life why I seem to be the only one of my siblings who healed & have had a good life. I started journaling when I was 9 years old and I never stopped writing. This is incredible.

Writing down my pain is a gift I give myself. Many journals and celebratory burns later I’m walking lighter and more joyful. I hope my daughters and grandchildren develop this healthy habit too.

I’m a nervous system coach & studying to become a somatic practitioner. I recommend writing to all of my clients. Sometimes journaling & other times writing a letter to someone with no intention of sending it. Just get it out on paper. I also believe journaling lowers that “my life flashed before my eyes” feeling. It takes you out of autopilot & allows you to reflect.

I did this to heal from an 18 yr long relationship. I just naturally did what my soul needed. I started to write. I am 10 months out and I feel amazing. Jesus had a lot to do with it also. He saves. 🙏❤️
