@wmaf.couples: John Willard Toland was a writer and historian, most notably known for multiple best sellers and award-winning books and biographies about WW2. He is noted to be one of the most historically accurate and unbiased authors about the time period. In 1971, his book "The Rising Sun", won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction, as it offered a point of view of the war from the citizens, military personnel and scholars of Japan He met his wife Toshiko Matsumura while working on TRS, as she was said to be the best interpreter and translator around. Born in Tokyo, her occupation prior to meeting her future husband was being a journalist and editor. They traveled across most of East Asia to gather the documents and interviews needed; Then moved to the USA where they'd settle permanently. Their only daughter Tamiko is an accomplished co-founder and educator.
