@var.aunevik: “Life imitates art” was born long before TikTok, it’s actually an old idea in aesthetic philosophy. Oscar Wilde was one of the most prominent voices for this view in his 1889 essay The Decay of Lying (rlly good do recommend!!!). The question I was left with was really - if life imitates art, what happens if art disappears?
i wonder if that’s why i perceive my life as a tv series. looking for plot twists, regarding people as characters

It’s the same with the idea that science copies art. Look at movies and tv series from years ago. Star Trek … using hand held computers. Tablets!! Cut to years later. Boom! The iPad!

Or it did not exist until the first painter thought it into existence in order to paint it. So therefore Life imitates thought more than thought imitates life and art imitates thought more than thought imitates art

This world sure needs Art.
quote from As a Man Thinketh by James Allen:
“Composer, sculptor, painter, poet, prophet, sage—these are the makers of the after-world, the architects of heaven. The world is beautiful because they have lived; without them, laboring humanity would perish.”

It reminds me of Dostoevsky’s White Nights. Of course, the phenomenon existed long before him across northern latitudes but in St. Petersburg, it became something poetic and symbolic largely because of his writing.

But painters and poets made it a thing because they were imitating life, therefore art imitates life…

It's cyclic. The artist finds a new way to look at the world, then depicts it on a medium. And people are able to precive reality more similar to the artist reality, untill the arrival of new artist.

I do not agree. I believe that artists discover beauty in things that others do not see. For example, after a painter captures the beauty of the fog, other people begin to notice it. They try to understand what the painter saw in the fog, and eventually they are able to perceive its beauty or a detail that impresses them.

There's a quote from a writer in yt called Schnee that says "we use stories to process our own lives" that phrase stayed with me until now. I think art is in part, listening to what the artist wanted to say, it's somehow a way of communicating too. It's just really a human thing.
