Update: Adopted This is the second video I’ve posted of Cube. A lot of people called. A lot of people sent emails. But no one showed up. And just like that, Cube was forgotten all over again. The reality is, I had already accepted Cube’s fate. I had already started grieving him. But today, he looked at me, and with his eyes, he told me he wants to live. Cube came into the shelter as a stray puppy a year ago with another dog. The other dog was adopted. Cube was never chosen. He grew up here without a family. I want to be completely transparent about Cube because the person who chooses him deserves to know exactly who he is. Cube has a huge heart. He is a high-energy dog, but I truly believe much of that comes from spending most of his young life confined to a kennel. He is incredibly smart. He sits, takes treats gently, wants to please, loves affection, and walks well on a leash. But Cube has fears. He is afraid of men when he first meets them. He needs someone willing to give him a little time to realize he is safe. Once Cube trusts you, that fear disappears, and he is great. He is also terrified of large semi-trucks and can panic when they pass during walks. Cube can be selective about his dog friends, but I believe he could be great living with one compatible dog in the home. No cats. Cube isn't perfect. But he isn't a bad dog. He is a dog who grew up in a shelter and never had the opportunity to learn what life outside of these walls is supposed to feel like. Cube didn't ask to be here. Someone failed him, and he shouldn't have to pay for that failure with his life. But I also understand the reality: keeping a dog alive indefinitely in a kennel, waiting for someone who may never come, isn't a life either. So please, no negative comments toward the shelter or the people caring for him. They didn't put Cube in this situation. What Cube needs right now isn't anger. He needs someone to finally choose him. Cube is listed as a Border Collie mix.
