Its because batteries conduct electricity, just like how our fingers do in a touchscreen, so it most likely thinks that the battery is your finger

Yall literally go to the dollar store and get a pen with a rubber stylus on the other end they're literally like 2 bucks and won't scratch your screen like the tinfoil thing ppl are suggesting

Guys take ANY pencil shaped object, wrap it with tinfoil, it works perfectly. Make sure your fingers both touch the tinfoil when using. Also I would advise this only for people that have a screen protecter because the switch 2 screen is prone to scratches dont risk it.

to anyone wondering, modern touchscreens have a small electromagnetic field to them and are able to detect touch by detecting a dip in that electromagnetic field. that's why your finger works because the electric charge goes into your body. it's also why a 3ds stylus or smart pencil doesn't work, but a AAA does. because the battery has a super low resistance to said electric field and holds the charge, meanwhile a smart pencil or ds stylus is a chunk of plastic
