@pagingdrares: Doctor appointments can feel rushed and that’s frustrating. But a little preparation beforehand changes everything. Here's how to prepare yourself 👇 1️⃣ Write down your symptoms When did it start, how often does it occur, what makes it better or worse. Most forget key details the moment they sit down, write it down and nothing gets missed. 2️⃣ Bring a list of your current medications Including supplements, vitamins and over the counter drugs. Many forget these but they are important in the evaluation and can affect what we prescribe. 3️⃣ Know your medical history Previous diagnoses, surgeries, hospitalisations and allergies. Especially if you’re new to a clinic, we need this context to give you the best care. 4️⃣ Be honest, even about the uncomfortable things Alcohol intake, smoking, drug use, sexual health, mental health. We are not there to judge but withholding information can lead to missed diagnoses or wrong treatment. 5️⃣ Prioritise your main concern You may have several issues but lead with the most important one first. Appointments are short and if you save the main problem for the end, there may not be time to address it properly. Are you prepared before your visits or just wing it? Be honest 👀 Save this before your next doctor visit📌 Follow for more honest advice from a doctor 🩺 . . #doctor #medicine #Health #advice #motivation

Well what we would love as patients is not to have to repeat all these things. You have to tell the receptionist, the nurse then the Dr

Ten minutes can be taken up by telling the doctor all that!!!!! It's bloody ridiculous. Ten minutes is not long enough and you dr's need to get this changed.

I always keep a running list of things to tell the doctor about my husband's medical issues for his three month visits. He won't ask questions nor remember anything, so he hands our doctor my note and nothing gets missed. Our doctor even writes the answers on my note.

If it’s a doctor in the same network then I’m not bringing anything with me- my history is on the chart.

My GP stares at her laptop for the six minutes she spends in the room with me so I assume she has most of this information.

Had a doctor years ago who would give you a form to fill out while you waited for the doctor with every possible symptom. I always take a picture of all my medications.

“Withholding information can lead to missed diagnosis or wrong treatment,” but also there’s so may healthcare providers in here saying we only get to bring up one issue per visit.

I always write everything down 😅😅😅 Happens quite often that doctors laugh, when they see my piece of paper, but maybe they just laugh because it's rare and they are happy I wonder now 🤔

we would also appreciate it if you did not have to scroll through your phone during the office visit. Please have the necessary information within easy access. We have a lot of patients and it is awkward waiting in the patient room waiting for the patients to find the info on their phone.

I would also suggest to limit the number of complaints to be addressed in one visit and don’t forget to shower. Not a doctor, an RN

Sad. Most of these things are things that your doctor would already know if we had good healthcare in the U.S. But as Trump said, we can’t afford healthcare and wars of choice.

Hello! In from Sweden. I now have complete claw hand deformity on both hands and the doctors here don't know what to look for anymore so I'm left completely alone without any help. Eneg/emg normal. Head MRI normal. It started 2019 when I was 20. My life is not a life anymore. Muscle weakness in my upper arms and thighs. Also have pots.. any chance you would have an idea of what I can do? I have so much I want to do in life. I'm not depressed or anything. Have been to psychologist and a yoga healing therapy and sorted all that stuff out hoping it was psychological. Please help

I just don’t go to doctors anymore. There is too much gas lighting , uncaring checked out doctors . I’ve heard everything from “ Is a diagnosis really that important ?” when i asked for a referral to a specialist which was denied and when i started to cry that doctor bent down in my face and said Are you upset , you seem upset ?” Then when i had some incidents of muscle failure and was referred to a neurologist for an EMG , that dr rolled her eyes three times during this initial assessment . That doctor said “ Your pain is worse because you ve been focused on it for the last three years while trying to get a referral .” This said while ignoring all my other symptoms then telling me there was nothing wrong snd no explanation of all my symptoms. Then after three and a half years of advocating to see a Rheumologist , i finally do and he says “ You don’t fit in any autoimmune box.” “ I don’t know what you have but i can’t help you .” I left his office crying , with no direction as to where to seek help .I sit here almost four years later , from when the symptoms first started. I’m still without an official diagnosis although I believe I have been experiencing Post Exertional Malaise and ME/ CFS . My trying to push through and carry on has permanently decreased my baseline . I have completely given up hope .
