I disagree so much... If I hadn't read assassin's blade first I would have DNFed Throne of Glass so hard... I would have felt no attachment to her, would have been pissed that AB was spoiled for me, and I would have been very confused.

As someone who did read it third, I was severely disappointed in the fact that I wasn’t as attached to Sam as I should’ve been I learned to respect him throughout the series, but I know I would’ve had a much better connection if I had read about him first, and I am mad that I didn’t and will always recommend reading it first to anyone who’s reading this series

i read it first every single time and never regretted it, aelin is a fictional character and i’m a real person, if i prefer to read in chronological order bc it’s easier for my brain to comprehend the story then i’ll read it chronologically 💀 also it’s literally printed on the books as 1st part

She actually isn't ready until Chapter 42 of Heir of Fire, so it should be read 4th (or directly after Chapter 42). It's the first time she tells someone how she ended up where she did when Chaol brought her to the palace.

I read it fourth for the emotional impact, to lead into QoS and for the narrative flow. BUT, that's my preference and that doesn't mean everyone automatically has to do it that way solely because I do. I think at this point, the discussion should be based on personal preference for each reader. No way is the "correct" way and no way is the "wrong" way, it all just depends on your own reading style and preference. 🤷♀️

I always say read assassins blade first, because if you don’t read it first then you already know she doesn’t end up with Sam Cortland, and he doesn’t matter as much because you know it won’t last. If you don’t read it first then you don’t really care about Sam Cortland, and it’s really important that you care about Sam Cortland.

I’m so glad I read it third, I loved having no backstory on her at all. It made the first two books so much better for me, the way I gaspedddd when I finished CoM and found out who she really was! Also the rush of not knowing whether she was strong enough to win Champion because again, I knew nothing about her, it was just the right order for me.
