Years ago I had my raise cut 25% and my boss went to our VP and explained my situation. I was told that if I was unhappy that I was free to seek employment elsewhere. Two months later when I did find employment elsewhere and had submitted my resignation he actually called me asking why I was leaving. Told him that you told me to seek employment elsewhere, so I did. Shocker.

Businesses never figuring out that you lose about $20k replacing someone in lost hours, training and ramp-up. If someone asks for a raise and it's under $10k annually, reward them and be thankful it didn't cost you more.

27 years ago I had a boss challenge me to find something better on a Friday because I laughed at the raise he offered. On Monday he said "I knew you'd be back", then I handed in my resignation and told him about the 2 great job offers I got over the weekend. He literally begged , offered almost double my wages and so on. I left by noon, never looked back.

I was hired for 1 route/30 stops, near the end I asked for a raise since I was doing 3 routes/90 stops and I was told no. I texted next day I won’t be returning to work. Their response “just like that”, I asked is there another way? They said ya a 2 weeks noticed. I responded sorry that’s for employers who value their employees.

I was a manager of a team of 7, 4 high performers the rest good but not exceptional. I warned that their pay bands were way too low and they were in danger of attrition. I left for a 50% raise. the next high performer left for a 100% raise, the next for a 55% raise and I just recruited the last for a 47% raise. I know one more is looking.
