When I graduated dental school and got my first job, the office did not have RDHs. So I go see this patient for a recall and started perio charting. He flipped out on me and said in the 12 years he’s been there, he’s never needed that and he’s already had a “ton of deep cleanings”. Turns out the office never probes and would just make up numbers. Left that office immediately

If you have periodontitis you need to see a periodontist. General dental offices are notorious for poorly managing this condition and that’s what you’re seeing with this patient

I love the way my hygienist does a good cleaning and the Dr he works for doesn’t she’s very rushed (I was her assistant) . He tells me the areas I’m missing and she will just be like okay you’re good to go.

I work for a really great corporate office and there are alot of private practices not taking insurance/retiring so we've been getting those patients, and the amount of patients that state their previous office was never this thorough before is ridiculous. I feel like the bad guy a lot of the time.
