How I felt in Kanazawa when the YouTube lessons on common phrases in Japanese for tourists came in handy and I had to help the guy in front of me order ice cream for himself and his girlfriend. He kept holding up one finger to say "First," then two fingers to say "Second". Of course they're going to think you want two of whatever you're ordering with two fingers up 😭
