I didn’t know where Fraser Island got its name from. Thanks. Will pick up the book!

thankyou. I'm studying counselling and was confronted by my lack of understanding of our indigenous culture as part of our curriculum. This has made me examine my privilege and I'm always looking for a better knowledge of how I can support indigenous and people of colour in my practice and in my personal life too. definitely will be giving this a read.

I appreciate the reminder of my internalised bias and my privilege. Recognising it reminds me to step back, listen more and to actively challenge it in myself and in the spaces I’m part of

Like buying a car and the car dealer talks only to your white mum when I'm buying.
Or in a car accident not caused by me, and Im asked by police if Ive been drinking, ambulance comes and treats white woman first because she's crying and Im the one with whiplash. I'll stop here bcz the list goes on

I know doors open for me because I’m a white woman and I while I like to think I hold it open for other women of any race, I am in the boardroom of a not for profit and that analogy really hit me. Thank you for sharing. I will definitely read the book and be far more aware of, and give time to the women who fought so much harder than me to enter that room ✌️

This! It’s lonely being the only black women in so many spaces. I just keep to myself I’ve been burnt too many times.
