I was doing it as a private student. I had a problem in linguistic about a concept. I contacted a renowned Professor. I showed him books of John Lyon, etc. He said, "just read my notes and pass your paper". I was shocked. I haven't seen a person who did Masters in English for thirst of knowledge and their interest in literature

Linguistics and Literature are both the study of Language,but they both view language through diffirent angles.Linguistics focuses on patterns,structures,rules and the scientific ovservation towards language,while literature use language as a medium of expression to create imaginative work using(metaphore,irony,symbolism) and many more linguistics items for beautifying literary language and work.so both are good and both can provide a comprehansive understanding of English language

Linguistics and literature are like two best friends who can’t survive without each other,one analyzes every word like a strict teacher, and the other uses those same words to tell dramatic stories like a poet in love. Linguistics makes sure we don’t say “He go yesterday” and embarrass ourselves, while literature takes correct sentences and turns them into heartbreak, adventure, and sometimes unnecessary tragedy. Without linguistics, language would be a mess; without literature, it would be boring like a grammar book with no emotions. So, one gives us rules, the other gives us feelings,and together, they save us from sounding foolish and from living a dull life. BTW sociolinguistics is Very interesting subject......
