Short answer: no, an orchid does not do well on rice grains, and you should not use them, neither raw nor cooked. Why rice is not a good idea: Mold and rot: cooked rice rots quickly and attracts fungi and bacteria. This is harmful to orchid roots. Root suffocation: raw rice swells when it absorbs moisture and can disrupt the airy structure. Orchid roots actually need a lot of oxygen. Not a suitable nutrient source: rice does not provide balanced nutrition for plants and can even disturb the substrate.
