If he’s an experienced tradesman, he should know exactly what he’s capable of doing within a set timeframe. I’d definitely look for someone else. There are some decent, trustworthy tradies out there.

Honestly cancel it, and tell him he never explained any of that to you before quoting. I used a company who had be registered on company's house for 18 years and four years later I have had zero problems with my bathroom

if it say QUOTE you don't have to pick anything up & if he fails to complete works he is liable for costs you incurred getting work don't he should of done. if ESTIMATE he can increase costs if you agree in advance

Got a shopfitting company and we stand by our quotes. I’ve just put a big tender in on a job but I made the client aware steel prices might go up due to the war in Iran. We won the work and as soon as we got the Purchase Order steel had gone up by 5%

My husband is a tradesman and that an estimate may differ but a quote is a fixed price and can’t be changed. He said you should be professional enough that when you quote you should think of everything and if anything, over quote so you have a buffer. If he ever finishes a job early he always adjusts to the customers advantage but never goes over!! Unless it is extra work and agreed of course. I would be very cautious and find someone else lovely 🤍

As a merchant, I can confirm materials have gone up massively recently. I’ve had to spend hours upon hours of price increases. It’s ridiculous! Some fittings have gone up a whopping 22%!! Can’t comment on the extra day though 🙄

I can beat that….we ripped bathroom out (we only have one in our wee bungalow at moment) Monday 8am plumber turned up as planned….looked around again…said i’m off to buy some piping, test half hour later saying sorry haven’t got time after all to do the job! We have now been six weekend without a bathroom thankfully we have a motorhome that we can use but it’s been awful fitting another plumber in
