U cant get alpha decayed if you arent exploiting an inefficiency in the market in the first place

Millionaire's District :
But alpha decay absolutely happens to retail traders through non-capacity channels: when your edge (e.g., a Pine Script mean-reversion signal) gets shared on TradingView/Reddit, thousands of copycats flood in, closing the inefficiency collectively as seen in 0DTE SPX flows decaying 70% post-2022 retail boom.
It also strikes via regime changes like vol spikes killing momentum edges or overfitting, where backtested "alpha" vanishes live; these aren't "your trading activity" but real decay retail must monitor.
Bottom line: Protect IP, test robustness across regimes, and scale cautiously retail decay is real, just sneakier than institutional pile-ons.

I think your argument is sound. I don't think my few lots can effect US30. 😂 I am not quant. and I don't trade inefficiencies. I trade trends. I think for a retail trader it is better to look for trends than inefficiencies.
