If they want a specific dress they should pay, if you get given a colour and can choose the dress, the bridesmaid should pay cause they can wear it again if they choose the style they like

I wouldn’t dare ask my bridesmaids to pay for a dress that I am choosing for them - that’s just me. If you expect your bridesmaids to pay for their own dress, they should be able to choose what dress they wear. Simple.

I was a female usher in my dear friends wedding (her husband ran out of groomsmen for the amount of bridesmaids she had) but I was still part of the bachelorette and the morning of festivities. I bought my own dress. thankfully I found a style in the color she wanted for $89.

I’m not asking my bridesmaids to pay for their dresses. I’m choosing to get married, so why would I expect my friends to have to pay for it? I know it’s expensive, but it’s my responsibility. My friends have lives and children to pay for, I’d never add to that stress for something that isn’t a necessity!

Absolutely not. You are asking them to be a part of your day and want them to wear a certain dress you should purchase the dress. I get married in July and have purchaed all the groomsmen’s suits, flower girls dresses and bridesmaids dresses x
