I also love the lighting in Raiders compared to modern action movies. In the dark temple scenes you can still easily see the action without losing the dark spooky feeling. New movies make everything so dark much of the story telling is lost.

Spielberg does great scene blocking and composition as well. He is SUPER economical with his camera angles and uses classical Hollywood composition, emphasizing deep focus, high-contrast lighting, and long takes to maximize storytelling efficiency. Classical techniques (ala wells in cit cane) but in a modern film.

A thing I noticed during the truck scene you showed was that there was some cuts but almost all the action was in the same area so you don’t have to look left or right to see what’s happening just watching where the previous cut was need to rewatch the movie don’t really remember much

One thing I realized on a rewatch of Raiders is 1.) just how good and interesting the lighting is and 2.) how light/dark is used thematically through out the film. Indy's dark attire vs Belloq's pristine white suit. Things like the idol and poisoned dates being framed by light. Heck, the spike trap foreshadows the opening of the ark by planting the idea that light = danger
