According to a 2007 poll conducted by the Japanese Ministry of Culture, it is ranked the 25th best manga of all time.[17] In addition, several video games, a light novel, three full-length animated films, and three anime series (released in 1997, 2016, and 2017) have been created based on the manga. Currently, 396 chapters of the manga have been published in Japan (the first 16 in Animal House, the remaining 380 in Young Animal). A separate publication comprises 42 tankōbon.[18] In November 2009, Comics-Art announced the acquisition of a license for the Russian edition of Berserk,[19] and the first volume was released on June 24, 2010.[20] After volume 7, publication was suspended.
