the difference comes down mainly to how time was counted and how each writer told the story. The “difference” happens because: Mark likely uses Jewish time (sunrise-based) John likely uses Roman time (midnight-based) John = using a “modern-style clock” (starting at midnight) Mark = using a “sunrise clock” (starting around 6 a.m.)
