That's how unapologetic the world was about their noble, joint purpose of committing a total annihilation of Paradisian Eldians all while continuing to enslave the rest. Eren responded with an equal amount of brutality, and now the Rumbling is branded one of the most mindlessly cruel and damning acts in fiction history, sparking an endless debate about the political & moral correctness of a 'reaction' all while disregarding the institutionalized, normalized 'action' that led to it. Oftentimes an unfortunate projection of the audiences' real-life prejudices against the oppressed who dare fight back. In a story where every character has a personal motivation behind their ideology, a story that spent hundreds of chapters dismantling the concept of inherent devils, Eren is being singled out by the fandom as a selfish, mindless, true evil. Every other previous antagonist that caused bloodshed and forced Eren into believing violence was the only ultimate, effective path receives grace and empathy from these audiences while Eren fans are bombarded with bad-faith questioning and accusations to satisfy the people's endless pursuit of moral superiority... #therumbling #shingekinokyojin #erenyeager #aot
