it's also a question of: how often do I get to see this friend without their boyfriend, and how close are we? if I have a close friend that I'm suddenly never seeing without the bf, I lose the ability to have vulnerable conversations with them.

It’s super weird when people cannot be independent from their partner. It’s really no different than making plans with a friend and they ask if they can bring their own friend who you don’t know as well. It’s not anything personal towards the third party, but sometimes you just wanna be with your close friends and no one else.

I have never and will neverrrr invite my boyfriend to a friend hang unless it was pre decided that the hang was going to include the boyfriends. The default is that they are not invited.

Everyone just has to learn time and place. I’m NEVER included in group hangouts with my husband and his friends but it is so fun to have everyone and their partners over for parties! My girlfriends and I went to see a play and they asked if I wanted to bring my husband and I said no!!
