I live in Nacogdoches and I often talk about how lonely it can feel to live in an area like this when you don’t align politically or religiously with the majority. I can’t imagine living here being in the LGBT community. I have found though that people are a lot louder with their opinions online but when you get face to face with someone and show them your humanity more people are willing to accept you. I have hope in that.

born in Texarkana (Texas side) and raised in Linden. my sister (lesbian) currently lives in Nac. when I was growing up there in the 90's/early 00's I could never have imagined that queer people would one day be able to live visibly and authentically in east Texas. don't imagine it's always easy but I'm glad you and others still make a home there. I miss parts of it deeply.

This is awesome!! My husband was a trans man originally from east Texas. He waited until he was 50 bc of growing up in deep east Texas. Taledo Bend and Nac. I have lost him since then but he would have loved seeing this!!!

I'm paused on my current physical transition, which is a story on its own buuut .. Houston here and when I told my very new boss I wanted to use my new name and pronouns.. he bent over backward to make it happen like within a day. updated everything in the system and made sure everyone was aware that I wanted to be called Tristan. very thankful for folks like that in places like this !
