And if you help them to the restroom, you assess their gait, balance, etc. Also a great time to assess their back side for pressure injuries.

We don’t do this in the UK 😳 vitals every 4-12hrs depending on status and that’s it. I guess we do have an overall look during washes etc but nothing formal

Spot on! 👏🏼 As a cardiac nurse, I also feel their radial and pedal pulses while feeling for edema. As I’m feeling those, I ask them if they have any numbness or tingling in their hands or feet. I’m often the first one to document neuropathy that’s usually chronic.

I’m in my final practicum and this made me realize I’m doing so well 🥹 sometimes I worry if I’m doing everything well (I always ask for feedback) and this is how I do mine ❤️IM GOING TO BE A GREAT NURSE.

I always start with vitals, quick pupils, ask them to smile, heart & lungs, belly, then csmts/pulses/ skin (asking about pain, complaints, and bathroom along the way)
