@whileyouwonder: As requested on my 5 Clues You Could Be Autistic vid ✨ P.S. just remember, one autistic quality doesn’t make you autistic - it’s a pattern across a set of criteria. But if you’re finding a lot of elements relate - it may be worth looking into! For my deep divers👇 Xie, B., Shi, Z., & colleagues. (2023). Echolalia in autism spectrum disorder, a scoping review. Frontiers in Psychology, 14, 1010615. https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2023.1010615 • Sterponi, L., & Shankey, J. (2014). Rethinking echolalia, repetition as interactional resource in autism. Journal of Child Language, 41(2), 275–304. https://doi.org/10.1017/S0305000912000682 🧠 As always, what I share is based on my experience as an autistic speech pathologist working in autism assessment, the lived experiences of the autistic community, and what I’ve seen across 8 years of assessment work. These insights reflect common themes I’ve observed in clinical settings, assessment conversations, and client storytelling. It may not apply to everyone, and research is still catching up on a lot of this. This content is for general education and shared understanding, it is not clinical advice or a diagnostic service. I’d love to see more research in this space, and I’m always open to chatting with or supporting researchers, especially autistic researchers, who feel called to explore and build on these insights. There’s so much more to explore together.

Every single... "Hello" I hear sets off either:
"Is it me your looking for?"
or
"Hello from the other sidddddeee"

Sometimes my kid will go “mamaaa” in a way that makes me go “ooohooohoohooo” (Queen style)

🤔 I'm definitely a parrot when it comes to lyrics and quotes, but what about music playing in my head at all times. it's so bad that I have to be strict about what songs I hear because I've gotten them stuck in my head for WEEKS and it begins to trigger my anxiety. no one believes me how debilitating it is 😞

I call it my little jukebox. Usually a random word in a sentence makes me go into a song lyric that starts with that word 😂

There’s literally a song for everything. Sometimes a soundtrack (like a classical song that fits the vibe)

I heard another creator on here call this "Stimitating" and it's absolutely perfect! Example though:
My kids: "How long until..." (for the 5th time)
Me: Five Hundred Twenty Five Thousand Six Hundred Minutes!" (Rent, Seasons of Love)
In general my kids know mine so well they sometimes do them before I start 😅

I do a lot of lyrics but I do a lot of commercial slogans too…. We used to have Heritage Moments in Canada. I will randomly whip one those out. “No one is going read a story about a strong man in tights, Joe… it’s never going to fly! Fly, no but he can leap over tall buildings….” This is an example. Google Heritage moments Superman for the full thing

Cannot here anyone say "Do it", without hearing Stray Kids' Do It go off in my head lol
But honestly, there are so many. I do keep them quiet in my mind, unless I'm comfortable enough to actually blurt things out.
My assessment is planned for August 😅 Guess I'll add this to the list 🤷🏻♀️

I do this all the time - anytime someone says a lyric that’s in a song, I’m singing the rest of it either to them or in my head!

All I need is one word to trigger lyrics either out loud or in my head, example from this sentence: head, in your head, zombie, zombie, zombie, or Roxanne, or Stop, or Left, etc… I spend on all with random lyrics sounding off lol
