@dr.adam.dell: Suffering has a way of disrupting the illusions we carry about control. It drops us to our knees and forces us to sit with the questions we had been too afraid to ask: what is real, what is lasting, and what actually matters when everything else falls away. One of the five domains of post-traumatic growth is a deepened connection to religion and spirituality. Falling to your knees does not always lead to despair. For many trauma survivors, as they begin to heal, it leads to worship. Their wounds become the very thing that connects them to a Healer. Devastation need not be a final destiny. For many, it is precisely in the wreckage that they find the sacred.
