@holistic.le: When it comes to eye creams the reality is, you really don’t need one. Why? Because most of them are just thicker/richer moisturizers allowing you to add extra hydration to the delicate, thinner under eye skin… but guess what! You can achieve the same hydration or better by using vaseline or 100% pure petrolatum layered on top of your normal moisturizer. 100% pure petrolatum acts as an occlusive, which means it seals in whatever is underneath it to prevent transepidermal water loss (TEWL), therefore, increasing your skin’s hydration. Sometimes it’s really that simple (and affordable!) Now the caveat here is an eye cream may be beneficial IF your eye cream serves a specific purpose that cannot be achieved with the skincare that goes all over your face. For example, if your under eyes don’t tolerate your topical tretinoin (despite how hard you tried), so you use an under eye retinol or maybe you find caffeine serums help your eye bags but you don’t want it over the rest of your face. Or, if you just enjoy the experience and application, then go for it! Moral of the story: eye creams are by no means essential. As always, I hope this helps #eyecream #vaseline #skincaretipsandtricks #skinhydration #SkinCare101
