My boyfriend and I just got off of a week long cruise on the gorgeous Norwegian Prima. It was my 2nd cruise and his 1st. We had an amazing time overall. I am someone that enjoys food with a lot of flavor. That being said, I'm still not SUPER picky or bougie when it comes to food. I didn't expect to have a 5 star dining experience on a cruise ship and some things were better than others. But I would say overall we were pretty content. We got the Free At Sea package which gave us 3 specialty dining dinners without the cover charge. The rest of our dinners were in the main dining rooms. I'd say Husdon's, one of the main dining rooms (open for all 3 meals), was consistently good. If you don't want to spend the money on specialty dining, there are plenty of complementary options! Honestly, if we had had to pay out of pocket for the specialty dining, I don't feel it would have been worth the $80-$120 it would have cost for the cover charges. One place I didn't mention was the Observation Lounge. It was one of our favorite places to chill and they had late, light breakfast options and snacks in the afternoon. It was a great place to go if you needed a pick-me-up between meals! The service, no matter where we ate, was always excellent. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. They are also SUPER diligent about food allergies and cross contamination. On my first cruise (NOT with Norwegian), I had a yogurt and granola parfait. A few bites in I realized there was cashews in the granola. Thankfully I realized it quickly and ended up only needing to take benadryl. There had been no indication on the menu that there was nuts in the granola and the server didn't ask about allergies. That situation could have been much worse.
