Lot of them in Sherman Oaks where I lived in the ‘90s. They’re beautiful but when they finish blooming, the petals turn to brown sludge on the sidewalk. My little dog hated them. LOL

Fun fact — You can use an Anglicized pronunciation (jack-uh-run-dah) or if you want to use a Spanish pronunciation the name of the plant - jacaranda and jacarandá. In the first, the pronunciation would be "hah-cah-RAHN-dah." In the second, thanks to the accent on the final "a", the pronunciation would be "hah-cah-rahn-DAH".

When my daughter was in kindergarten, her teacher asked them all to draw a tree. My daughter, for some reason was the only one to draw a lavender/purple tree. The teacher told me she was concerned with my daughter’s perception of a tree. I took the teacher outside and showed her the trees that surrounded the school. They were all Jacarandas in bloom.

Despite the many negative comments here, I love them here in Palm Springs! 💜 I have two in my yard. The spectacular purple flowers here in mid-April and May are worth the inconvenience of the fallen flowers and twigs to clean-up. 💜💜💜
