Can someone explain why many poets choose not to capitalize any letters? I’ve always capitalized “I” in my own poetry, so I’m not sure if there’s a meaning to it beyond stylistic choice.

I’d need to see the whole of the work to see if the orange reference makes sense in context of other poems and also the significance to them for turning 16. Because like not to trauma compete but I bare knuckle fought my (now dead) daddy on the front lawn of our trailer park on Christmas Day and won and then we ate ham and collards like nothing happened while we both nursed our busted lips with a bag of frozen vegetables and my mammaw fussed abt violence on Christmas to which my daddy replied, “well it ain’t like we pulled out the guns or brass knuckles.”
