This is my Reason Why ZUTARA GAS POTENTIAL... When we think about writing romance and shipping characters together, we're often talking about how they complement eachothers strength and weaknesses. How they fill in the gaps in eachother to find deeper meaning through eachother. A two way telationship of give and take. And for us Zutara shippers its symmetry and parallels and intruige galore. Katara raised to supress her powers and always put other before herself, Zuko's raised to embrace power and view kindness as weakness. Where Kataea needs someone to help her process her grief and anger and trauma nore healthily, Zuko needs someone who can teach him to love by first loving him. We've got 2 characters who both struggle to channel their anger and trauma in a healthier way. Where Kataras arc is all about reconnecting with her cultyre and Zuko is all about asking who he is outside of his. Kataras kindness and empathy tames Zuko's anger, and Zuko's proactiveness inflames Kataras sense of righteousness. Zuko is literally scarred, Katara is the magical healer. Zuko starts his journey to become a better man by learning a waterbending technique and lightning redirection. But also him who helps her realizeshe shouldnt rely on blood bending, or ther darker power. And most of all BOTH that their arcs fundementally peakwith how they relate to eachother in the same episod. True love might seem the natural next step! A love which isnt based on attractionor circumstance, but mutual respect and understanding. Not to mention! Other parrallels which justmake it seem like theyre destined for eachother. Zuko becomes the blue spirit using a mask we now know A dark WATER TRIBE spirit, while Katara poses as the painted lady, a fire nation spirit. In both cases, Katara and Zukouse their spirit disguises to do something that they couldnt as their normal selves... almost Yin yang, theres a bit of fire in kataras water and a bit of water in Zukos fire. Something only satisfied in maybe finding eachother..
