The 2016 version sells for ten grand now. But the genius is the constraint. No online store. You can only buy Masters merch if you were there. That hat is not a forty dollar hat. It is proof you went to the Masters. That is a bigger flex than anything you can buy with a credit card at any shopping centre in the world. You can buy Louis Vuitton anywhere. You cannot buy Masters merch without being there. That is the difference between a purchase and a status signal. Most event merch is stuff you would never wear twice.
